The Electoral Commission of Zambia – ECZ- has asked the Lusaka High Court to dismiss former Lands Minister SILVIA MASEBO’s petition for CHONGWE East Constituency’s parliamentary election results.
The ECZ has dismissed Ms. MASEBO’s allegations that the election was not held in compliance with the provisions and principles of the Electoral Process Act.
The Commission has additionally refuted Ms. MASEBO’s allegations that the election was characterised with acts of violence, intimidation and harassment against herself and her agents.
This is according to the ECZ’s answer to Ms. Masebo’s pertition filed in the Lusaka High Court Registry.
Meanwhile CHONGWE Independent Member of Parliament ANITA KAMANGA has distanced herself from allegations that she was involved in violent activities targeted at Ms. MASEBO and her agents.
Ms. KAMANGA who is the first respondent to CHONGWE East Parliamentary Petition, has also denied allegations of having been engaged in bribery.
She has described the allegations as untrue and fabricated.
