Job Overview

World Vision, a global Christian humanitarian organization with over 75 years of experience, is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer in Lusaka, Zambia. You will play a pivotal role in promoting and embedding a safeguarding culture, empowering low-income entrepreneurs while ensuring the protection and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults within the organization’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Leadership: Adapt and implement the VF Zambia Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy across national and branch levels.
• Training and Capacity Building: Develop and deliver safeguarding orientation and specialized training for staff, board members, volunteers, and partners.
• Incident Management and Investigations: Lead safeguarding incident preparedness and response, managing cases in line with global protocols.
• Complaint Mechanisms: Establish accessible local complaint channels at all branches.
• Risk Management: Collaborate with Risk and Compliance to conduct safeguarding risk assessments.
• Monitoring and Continuous Improvement: Lead annual safeguarding reviews and action plans.

Requirements

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years overseeing prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), gender-based violence (GBV), or safeguarding programs.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Legal Studies, Human Resources, Child or Women’s Rights, or relevant practical experience.
• Strong relationship-building and communication abilities, spiritual maturity rooted in Christian faith.
