Food Safety Controller

FOOD SAFETY CONTROLLER – NOVATEK LUSAKA (1)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

Developing, implementing, and continuously improving the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in line with implemented ISO 22000:2018, Global G.A.P Management system and future management systems.
Ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety regulations.
Preparing the organization for certification, annual surveillance, and audits.
Developing and upholding procedures for the control of documentation related to processes.
Conducting internal audits and coordinating external audits for food safety certification and regulatory compliance.
Investigating and resolving food safety incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Providing training and awareness programs for employees on food safety practices and hygiene standards.
Developing and implementing Quality Assurance (QA) procedures to ensure product consistency and compliance.
Monitoring critical control points (CCPs), process parameters, and finished product quality.
Ensuring compliance with customer and statutory quality requirements.
Overseeing product testing and sensory evaluation to maintain high-quality standards.
Leading root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action plans (CAPA) to prevent recurring quality issues
Effectively checking if the personnel are following the procedures with regards to the applicable ISO standards and the Quality Management System reporting any non-compliances to the Operations Manager.
Updating and maintaining the Novatek Integrated Management System and has full administrator rights to the share point.
Regularly checking the Novatek Integrated Management System (NIMS) for compliance, updates and implement new documents for all procedures, standing instructions and forms for all departments/ sub departments.
Regularly checking the Novatek website for content compliance and updates.
Keeping up to date with food safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
Working closely with all departments to align quality and food safety objectives.
Identifying areas for improvement and leading continuous improvement projects in food safety and quality assurance.
Maintaining proper documentation, records, and reporting related to food safety and quality compliance.
Performing any other tasks assigned by superiors.

The Required Qualifications are:

Grade 12 Certificate
Degree in Food Science, Biological Science or related field
2-3 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or similar role
HACCP Certification will be an added advantage
